The Evolution of Lady Scaping
Looking Through the Bushes: The Disappearance of Pubic Hair. Women have been primping their pubes with every design under the sun since long ago… or to be more accurate since the beginning.
Neanderthals didn’t have laser clinics back in the day, but were so desperate to rid themselves of hair down there. Evidence is on the walls (Literally). Early cave paintings show women plucking pubes with sharpened flint and shells which they used to actually scrape off hair. The 60’s brought a bunch of change. With the ever-so risqué bikini outfit, most women were shaving, waxing or Nairing down there.
During the 70s Playboy and Penthouse magazines engaged in was Hugh Hefner coined “The Pubic Wars” each striving to show more and more of the female physique. It was generally agreed that nude photographs were not pornographic unless they showed actual female pubic hair or genitals. Penthouse magazine was the first to publish a woman with hints of pubic hair. Little wisps showed from the woman in the centerfold of the magazine, and needless to say it was a huge step for pubic hair.
Back to the 80’s Women starting shaving and waxing the bush again, many shows of the 80s depicted tanned bikini wear babes like Pamela Anderson in Baywatch. The 90s were all about the vagina, with a whole section of the play Vagina Monologues dedicated to how going hairless is just a painful and humiliating task. Playboy released scantily clad women again with more minge, this time in a more “manicured” style. It wasn’t until the late 90s that the fully-nude trend. It became the celebrity trend that every woman wanted.
Some are saying DITCH the razor and cancel your wax because the bush is back… But let’s be honest who really believes this…more like… DITCH THE RAZOR & SWITCH TO LASER
Some say that trends are always full circle…I’m not sure if this is in any way connected although isn’t it odd that the beard trend has done the complete opposite of the lady garden over the decades??
Whether you’re growing back your garnish or keeping things close to the surface, your pubes are keeping step with history
Pubes have been an ever-constant presence in the history of grooming trends of our world. Throughout the ages, there have been eras in which women couldn’t wait to see how long their gardens would grow, others stripped the area bare: hairless like sphinx cats. The Middle Ages were for good gardening and thick carpets Although over the past few decades we have seen some rocking landing strips, Brazilians, Hollywood’s and even vajazzles.
Ladies everywhere should welcome in a new era of the “free of the bush” and let their lady gardens be silky smooth. Although maybe not if you’re a resident of Korea as their latest trend…I would only label as a little disturbing. Recently women have been undergoing pubic hair transplant surgery, a procedure that is intended to add extra hair to the pubic area It appears this emphasis on an unnaturally fuller bush won’t be as trendy in western counties thankfully.
