How many treatments is best?

The number of treatments needed varies for each individual, depending on the pigment or melasma you wish to treat. In most cases, you will start to see the real benefits of Q-Switch Laser after 4 or 5 treatments, and for the best results we recommend 10 or more treatments. For best value and results, our Skin Journeys™ combine in-clinic treatments with at-home skincare.

How much does it cost?

Q-Switch Laser treatments start from $179 AUD / $189 NZD with great value packages available.

What can I expect after?

Pigment areas will become darker within a few hours of the laser treatment. Q-Switch works differently to other lasers where hyperpigmentation is suppressed and pushed deeper into the skin, where it fades away at the surface level. This may take approximately 2 weeks. Q-Switch Laser side effects are rare. Some people may experience sensitivity during the treatment or a breakout post-treatment as impurities are purged from skin.

Does it hurt?

Q-Switch Laser causes minimal discomfort compared to other skin rejuvenation treatments. The laser energy feels warm and prickly, but it isn’t painful. The treated area may feel a little like sunburn afterwards, but no downtime is needed.

How long between treatments?

To maximise the benefits of Q-Switch Laser, we recommend the first 10 treatments be performed at 1-month intervals.

FAQs

What is Q-Switch Laser?

The Q-Switch Laser operates on different wavelengths to treat a variety of skin tones and concerns. The Q-Switch Laser was originally invented for tattoo removal, which uses a more deeply penetrating wavelength. At other wavelengths, it is effective for skin rejuvenation and can remove unwanted brown spots, discolouration, pigmentation, freckles, melasma and age spots.

What are the benefits of Q-Switch Laser?

Q-Switch is one of the most advanced treatments for removing unwanted pigmentation, including age spots, sun spots and freckles. The innovative Q-Switch Laser beam is one of the few lasers that can effectively treat deep pigmentation such as melasma.

How many Q-Switch Treatments are required?

The number of treatments needed varies for each individual, depending on the pigment or melasma you wish to treat. In most cases, you will start to see the real benefits of Q-Switch after 4-5 treatments, and for the best results we recommend 10 or more treatments.

What to expect during a Q-Switch Laser Treatment?

The Q-Switch Laser emits short pulses of laser energy into the pigmented lesions to progressively shatter the pigment. The laser energy feels warm and prickly, but it is not painful. The treated area may feel a little like sunburn afterwards, but no downtime is needed.

Does Q-Switch Laser remove pigmentation and melasma?

Q-switch Laser is known to be an effective treatment for fading and reducing the appearance of melasma and pigmentation. Unlike most laser machines, Q-Switch Laser is safe on some darker skin tones.

What can be treated with Q-Switch Laser?

Q-Switch Laser is an effective skin rejuvenation treatment for reducing redness, hyperpigmentation and pore size. This treatment can also boost skin regeneration, improve the appearance of acne scarring and create a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles.

How long does it take for freckles to fade after Q-Switch treatment?

Pigment areas will become darker within a few hours of the laser treatment. Soon, the natural process of mild exfoliation begins, and the hyperpigmentation will start to fade. This may take approximately 2 weeks.

What are the side effects of Q-Switch Laser?

Q-Switch Laser side effects are rare. Some people may experience sensitivity during the treatment or a breakout post-treatment as impurities are purged from skin. A very small percentage of people may experience mild bruising.

Is Q-Switch Laser safe?

Yes. At Clear Skincare’s clinics, our staff are highly trained and certified in the use of Q-Switch Laser technology. The treatment is approved for the treatment of melasma.

Does melasma and pigmentation come back after laser?

Pigmented lesions that have been removed will not return after your laser treatments. However, various factors such as ageing, changes in hormone levels and sun exposure can stimulate the occurrence of new hyperpigmentation which can be treated but not prevented by Q-Switch.
