Dermapen treatments are popular and innovative anti-aging and scar correction procedures designed to rejuvenate the skin making it look smoother and more youthful. As the name suggests, the Dermapen is a small, pen-like tool which delivers multiple tiny punctures to the skin. While it’s small in stature the Dermapen is big on results, proving to be an effective treatment for reducing wrinkles and fine lines, treating acne scars, improving skin texture, minimising pores and providing an overall rejuvenation of the skin.

But don’t worry if you are needle-phobic, you won’t need to see the microscopic needles contained within the Dermapen – and they’re so tiny.

The Dermapen device uses many vibrating, fine needles that create multiple micro-channels in the skin. Suitable for all skin types, the Dermapen works at a precise needle depth, rapidly penetrating the skin to produce tiny micro punctures. This technique stimulates the skin’s natural healing process to produce the two proteins needed for supple, smooth and youthful skin – collagen and elastin.

While we sometimes endure pain for the sake of beauty (hmm, waxing springs to mind!) the good news is that Dermapen anti-ageing treatments cause minimal pain procedures. Numbing cream may be used for many skin treatments but the vibrating effect of the Dermapen interrupts the pain receptors in the skin which means numbing cream isn’t necessary. How clever is that! In fact, Clear Skincare Clinic clients actually find the Dermapen micro-needling process quite comfortable.

That is partly because the Dermapen isn’t rolled or dragged across the skin like a dermal roller, so the tiny punctures are cleaner, more direct and less painful without that dragging or tearing sensation of the needles rolling across the skin.

The Dermapen treatment is a natural, mechanical process which works effectively without the use of chemicals.

The side effects post-treatment are minor and may include slight swelling and discomfort, redness or minor flaking of the skin. Slight bruising is possible in people with sensitive skin prone to bruising easily.

We all heal at different rates, but generally, you should see the effectiveness of the Dermapen beginning to work as your skin starts to heal within four to seven days post-treatment. Within four to six weeks you are ready for your next session where the positive results will become cumulative.

skin texture Skin needling is a derma roller procedure that uses small needles to prick the skin. The purpose of treatment is to generate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, more toned skin. Micro needling is mostly used on the face and may treat various scars, wrinkles, and large pores.

Dermapen Skin Needling is minimally invasive, requiring little to now downtime.
It’s considered safe for most people who are in overall good health.
The procedure isn’t safe for people who use certain acne medications or for women who are pregnant.

Due to its amazing technology, unlike other Meso Needling pens the Dermapen does not require skin numbing prior to treatments. When you have a Dermapen treatment, your experience will likely be less painful (if you feel any pain at all). Because the needles are not angled and enter the skin at a perfect 90-degree angle, there is no pain associated with the rolling action of the dermal roller.

Treatments can be repeated every 4-6 weeks until you achieve the desired results. We recommend starting with 3 treatments. For scar reduction an average of 3 to 6 treatments are recommended. Results can be seen from one to eight weeks after treatment. Typically, you will see results after your first treatment. Lasting and more significant results will occur after 4-6 treatments.

Dermapen Skin Needling is safe for all skin types. Skin needling does not contain any harsh chemicals or ingredients that skin may react to, rather is stimulating the skin’s natural healing process through collagen induction therapy which is both safe and effective for every skin type. Contra-indications to Dermapen Skin Needling: Skin diseases such as psoriasis or eczema, open wounds or cystic acne, keloid scarring and pregnancy.

Directly after a treatment your skin will appear flushed, with slight redness and possible mild swelling in treated skin areas. Depending on the intensity of the treatment you may experience light flaking. Majority of the redness should subside within 24 hours and skin will be totally headed within 2-5 days. This amazing treatment has virtually no downtime.

The most common side effect is minor skin irritation immediately following the procedure. You may also see redness for 24-48 hours. More severe side effects may occur including:

Discomfort at the site
Redness
Bruising
Dryness
Flaking of the skin

Immediately After Treatment

Your skin will feel very hot, this will intensify and may persist for 6 – 24 hours post treatment.

You may experience slight swelling and puffiness particularly around the eyes. Anti-histamines

can be used. Rest at home within a cool, clean and dry environment. Drink plenty of water to

keep hydrated. Your skin must remain DRY for 6 hours post treatment.

1-3 Days After Your Treatment

Redness will resolve to pinkness/sensitivity and tenderness. Any swelling will start to subside

and dissipate completely. The outer layer of your skin will become dehydrated and will feel

dry and rough, leave to exfoliate naturally. You will be able to wash your skin with cool water

and Clear Skincare Gel Cleanser.

3 Days After Your Treatment

Grazing will be present. Peeling/flaking of the treated skin may occur. Pinpoint markings

can take 6 weeks to blend into surrounding skin.

Follow-Up Treatment

A Skin Peel and LED Light Treatment are recommended two weeks after treatment.

When Will I See Results?

Results can vary for every client and Skin Resurfacing works on a number of different

concerns. Immediate lifting and tightness are usual. Best results are seen with regular

maintenance treatments over a 3 month period.

Day of treatment: Do not apply anything onto the skin. If skin is feeling irritated apply

Paw Paw Ointment. If skin type 3+ Apply PIH Cream that night liberally over the area for 5

days post treatment. This aids in the prevention of pigmentation forming.

24 – 48 Hrs + : When skin heals apply Copper Peptide Serum to aid in healing and Red Cover

BB Cream to soothe and cover blemishes.

5-7 Days: Continue use of active ingredients.

Avoid touching the skin for 6 hours. No further treatments for 2 weeks or no exfoliation and

active ingredient/absorptive products for 7 days. Avoid sun exposure.
