LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENT
Laser treatments are one of the most popular ways for women and men to achieve a permanent reduction in hair growth. Laser hair removal is suitable for nearly all skin types, and at Clear Skincare Clinics we use advanced, medical grade Candela laser technology to effectively treat unwanted hairs on both light and dark skin tones.
Can laser treatment remove hair permanently?
Yes, laser hair removal treatments permanently reduce hair growth by up to 80% in the treated area.
Laser hair removal works by sending a high intensity light source into hair follicles where it seeks out the colour of the hair or pigment. The light then changes into heat to progressively destroy the hair follicles, preventing new hair from growing. Approximately eight to twelve sessions are required on average.
How often do you need to get laser hair removal?
To achieve a permanent reduction in hair growth your laser treatments are scheduled to coincide with the hair growth phase, which is every four to six weeks on average.
As the laser progressively destroys the hair follicles, it will take between eight and twelve laser treatments on average to achieve a permanent result.
What treatment areas are the most popular?
Laser hair removal is a safe and effective way for men and women to remove face and body hair.
At Clear Skincare Clinics throughout Australia we find the most popular treatment areas for laser hair removal are:
- Bikini line or Brazilian
- Facial areas including, upper lip, chin, sides of face and even half and full face treatments.
- Half and full arms
- Full and half legs
Bundled treatment areas are a great way to make laser highly cost effective. Popular bundled treatment areas include Brazilian plus underarms, half legs plus Brazilian plus underarms, and full legs plus Brazilian plus underarms.
Purchasing three, six or ten packs of laser treatments also allows for excellent savings. Learn more about laser hair removal costs here.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
While everybody’s pain threshold is different, laser hair removal is nowhere near as painful as waxing. Clients feel a slight sting or tingling sensation, but laser treatments are virtually painless for most people. Some say the treated area feels warm for a short time after the treatment, a little bit like it has been sunburned.
How long should you go between appointments?
To progressively destroy the hair follicle and prevent hair growth by up to 80%, It is important to target the hair during the hair growth cycle.
We recommend scheduling your laser hair removal appointments no more than four to six weeks apart.
After approximately eight to twelve laser treatments unwanted hair growth can be permanently reduced by up to 80%. It is important to note that certain factors can vary the results, such as the specific area being treated, age, gender and hormone levels.
Are the laser hair removal machines which are used really that important?
Yes. At Clear Skincare Clinics our laser technicians use medical grade Candela Alexandrite laser technology because it is the most advanced and clinically proven on the market. Candela lasers are safe and highly effective on nearly all skin types.
What are the benefits of laser hair removal?
There are many benefits to laser hair removal including:
- The convenience and confidence of smooth, hair-free skin 365 days per year.
- Long term cost savings in comparison to repeated waxing, shaving, epilating and other hair removal methods.
- Relief from ingrown hairs and shaving rashes.
- More time in your busy schedule without frequent and repetitive waxing, shaving and plucking.
- Never having to cover up while you grow the hair for waxing.
- Never having to suffer the embarrassment of going out then realising you should have shaved your underarms, bikini line or legs!
Can laser hair removal be performed on all skin tones?
Laser hair removal can be performed on nearly all skin types and some lasers can be more effective on certain skin tones than others. At Clear Skincare Anti-Ageing, Acne and Laser Clinics we prefer the innovative Candela Alexandrite laser because it is clinically proven to be highly effective on both light and even on darker skin tones. The Alexandrite laser technology uses higher brightness and more energy per light pulse than other lasers to focus the energy on the pigment in the hair follicle without damaging darker skin tones.
However, we do recommend avoiding sun exposure and tanning including fake tan prior to your laser treatments. Covering up with sunscreen or avoiding sun exposure altogether. The more contrast between your skin and hair makes it easier for the laser to target and destroy the hair in the follicle without targeting surrounding skin.
